June 19, 2023
Dear Knapp Forest Families,
I am very pleased to announce that Mrs. Lisa Roedel has accepted our invitation to become the principal of Knapp Forest Elementary School. Mrs. Roedel comes to us from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools where she has served with distinction as the principal of Smith Elementary School since 2018. Prior to her position in Plymouth-Canton, Mrs. Roedel served as a principal and elementary teacher in schools east of the Lansing area.
Mrs. Roedel began her educational career as an elementary school teacher with Webberville Community Schools. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Ferris State University and a graduate degree from the University of Michigan in educational leadership. She has extensive training and experience in leading relationship-oriented and student-centered school cultures. She has a track record of building strong teams of educators who focus on providing all students with what they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Roedel to Forest Hills and Knapp Forest. She is excited to rejoin her husband following his move to West Michigan last fall to serve as superintendent of Greenville Public Schools.
Thank you to all of the parents and staff members who participated in the search and selection process. We have an outstanding new principal to take over from an outstanding outgoing principal. Mrs. Roedel will work with the district and Mrs. Schukow to ensure a smooth transition. You can expect to hear more from Mrs. Roedel over the next few months.
We are grateful for Kristen Schukow’s dedicated and student-centered leadership as principal of Knapp Forest. Mrs. Schukow has been instrumental in the growth and success of one of Michigan’s highest performing elementary schools. We will miss her grace, professionalism, and positivity as an integral member of our educational team.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Mrs. Lisa Roedel. Finally, please join us as we thank Mrs. Kristen Schukow for a career of service to young people, Knapp Forest, and Forest Hills.
Sincerely,
Dan Behm
Superintendent
